Hi, I'm Z.

That's what most people call me, anyway. My real name isn't hard to say, but when I moved to Texas, the owner of my local gym decided "Z," the first letter of my last name, was easier. It stuck. Now it's the name I give at Starbucks too, and it usually comes back on the cup as "Zee." I've grown to like it.

I came to the United States as an immigrant with a simple idea of what a good life looked like: work hard, keep learning, and make things people are glad to have. I spent years working at American tech companies, and I learned a lot there. But I kept wanting to build something of my own.

In 2025 I took over Modern Shop, a small brand of paper goods that families already loved. You might know our fruit notepads from a friend's fridge, or our kraft scrapbooks from a birthday or a road trip someone didn't want to forget. My job is to keep that care in every product, and to keep making new ones.

I work directly with the factory that makes our products. I check paper weight, magnet strength and print quality on every sample, and I read what you tell us in your reviews. When something can be better, we change it.

Modern Shop is still small, and I like it that way. It means every grocery list stuck to a fridge and every album full of photos matters to us.

Thank you for letting us be a small part of your home.

Z
Owner, Modern Shop
